More than 7,000 companies (excluding small enterprises), of which 15% are foreign-invested firms; employing over 2.8 million workers, accounting for 10% of the national industrial production.
The textile industry ranks third in Vietnam's total exports. In 2022, Vietnam's textile and apparel industry achieved a total export value of $44.51 billion, a 10% increase compared to 2021.
It is projected to reach a target of $70 billion in exports by 2030, directly employing more than 4 million workers in the textile and apparel industry, positioning Vietnam as one of the world's top three apparel exporters.
Vietnam is currently experiencing a 'youth dividend' phase, with an average age of just 29 years old. This significant increase in the labor force within the textile and apparel industry, both in quantity and quality, has provided substantial momentum for rapid growth. From a policy perspective, the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and Vietnam present new opportunities for Vietnam, fostering textile and apparel exports and driving economic growth in this sector.
Vietnam Saigon Textile & Garment Industry Expo is the biggest and the most influential event in the textile and garment industry of Vietnam. As the only textile & garment industry expo approved by UFI (international exhibitor assurance of quality-www.ufi.org), this expo held concurrently with the Vietnam Saigon Fabric & Garment Accessories Expo. These 2 expos are aimed to provide a one stop market for all buyers in Vietnam and the neighboring countries. Next event will be held during 10 – 13 April, 2024 at SECC, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
